About our founder

Our founder, Katherine Lee, is a high school student who has always had a deep compassion for animals. Her unwavering drive and passion have propelled her on a mission to advocate for animal welfare through her non-profit organization, Kats in Knead. From her initial independent research on pet care and canine ethology through Youtube videos and books. This passion led her to uncover the harsh realities of disreputable breeding practices, including backyard breeding and puppy mills. When she stumbled upon videos advocating for shelter animals and fostering kittens, she became acutely aware of the shelter crisis in Los Angeles. This deeply impacted her, inspiring her to foster kittens. By educating herself on how to foster kittens, she was determined to make a meaningful difference in society.

Her journey began with fostering her first bottle baby kitten, Claire, who was severely dehydrated and needed round-the-clock care. Realizing the profound impact of saving one animal at a time and giving them a second chance at life, Katherine felt compelled to advocate for those who never got that chance, especially the ones on euthanasia lists. She recognized that fostering was crucial to her mission of making a significant change in this crisis.

With this determination, she founded Kats in Knead, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization driven by an urgent need for change in animal welfare. Through its innovative programs and unwavering commitment, Kats in Knead aims to make a lasting impact by supporting animals in need and providing them with the unconditional love they deserve.
